Do you want to try and win a lot of polish? I know you do…

Aloha! While I plug away at some more swatches and post editing for you, I thought I’d let you know that I’ve joined in on Nail Polish Canada’s GIANT POLISH GIVEAWAY, where they’ve basically asked and invited polish bloggers (like myself) to nominate one polish of their choice and then they throw it into a massive prize pile. Up to 200 polishes can be nominated and they’re almost there!

I chose to nominate Cirque’s “Chainmail”, despite having never worn it hahaha. It’s just so darn pretty! You can find swatches of it on NPC’s site HERE. So, if you want to enter, just go ahead and click the link to fill out the form below!

Nail Polish Canada Great Giveaway

Nicole by OPI Gumdrops “That’s What I Mint”

Posted on

Aloha folks! I’m comin’ at ya today with a swatch of a gorgeous texture polish that I picked up on clearance for fifty cents. Yes. You read that correctly. FIFTY. CENTS. I actually got the majority of the Gumdrops (PS. Just typed Gumpdrops) collection for the aforementioned fiddy cents. I guarantee I floated out of the store that day. ANYWAY. Today I’ll be showing you the drop dead gorgeous teal/blue “That’s What I Mint”, which isn’t actually a mint shade at all. Shame on you, NOPI name department. It’s a collection of blue, green, purple and gold texture that just makes my heart swoon. I used 2-3 coats because some nails handled the polish a little differently than others.

That's What I Mint

I mean…COME ON. I could stare at this polish for hours. It’s SO pretty.

And that’s just inside. Can you imagine how stunning it is in the sun? Well, let’s find out…

That's What I Mint3

*dies* It really brings out the blue. I am so glad I bought this polish. And the others like it. I’ve worn three and they’ve all knocked my socks off so far. Don’t let me down, remaining colours!

Until next time…

To Dupe or Not To Dupe: Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Posted on

Aloha! Welcome back to my “To Dupe or Not To Dupe” series! It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these posts. And I actually have a couple more lined up. Shocking, I know. But I figured with all of the shenanigans surrounding Sally Hansen’s Pacific Blue, now was a good time to start again. If you haven’t heard, SH completely changed one of their core colours, but left it with the same name. This isn’t the first time they’ve done it, and it certainly won’t be the last, I’m sure. The new Pacific Blue is a nice shimmery blue, however, it is a dramatic step away from the original. The old PB was a gorgeous dusty, almost cornflower blue cream that I really don’t have anything else even close to it in my vast hoard collection. I couldn’t even find a single bottle left to buy as a backup. It’s almost as if store employees just took them and hid them all away. A very sad day in my life. Which says a lot about my life. So, one day I was browsing through the nail polish at Wal Mart, as I so often do, and I saw some random Maybelline polishes. And there was one that looked like it was a dead on dupe for PB. So I snatched it up and here we are. How did it do against Pacific Blue? Well, let’s find out…

Revlon “Lana’i Lagoon”

Posted on

Aloha! Today I have a Revlon polish to show you! This is (I’m guess) a summer release, marketed under the header “Pebble texture”. There were about four of them but I only picked up two. And I’m not really sure I like either of them!

Lana’i Lagoon is a blue glitter polish that dries down matte. It’s not really textured, so I was a bit disappointed in that. While the blue is really pretty and has a very slight purple lean to it, there isn’t much in the way of eye catching glitter. The bigger hexes blend in to the base colour and I THINK I see some teal glitter and some silver, but it all sort of blends together. It was an easy formula to work with, which was nice. Overall, this polish was a big “meh” for me and I’m not sure if I’m going to hold onto it, or pass it along to someone with a better skin tone. It’s not a bad polish by any means. It really just doesn’t do it for me.

I used two coats for my swatches, no top coat.

As underwhelmed as I was with this one, I like it ten times better than I do the second one I picked up! Next time, I’ll have a new “Tp Dupe or Not to Dupe” for you!
